SB 945 will , in effect, make it legal and mandate for insurance providers and employers in Virginia to extend certain insurance coverages to the "domestic partners" of any given employee, in violation of Virginia's Constitution.
In a state where we just passed a Marriage Amendment to our Constitution to protect traditional marriage from the attacks of the militant homosexual lobby, we now have some Republicans crossing the aisle to vote with their socialist Democrat counterparts to again assault one of humanity's greatest and longest held institutions from God;
Naturally, the GA tried to hide the ramifications of this bill in nuance and platitudes, but if one is looking, it is not hard to extract the fly from the ointment; here is the damning portion of the text of SB 945;
B, may be extended to insure the spouse and any child who is under the age of nineteen years or who is a dependent and a full-time student under twenty-five years of age, or any class of spouses and dependent children, of each insured group member who so elects.
ANY CLASS OF SPOUSES.........
What exactly is a "class of spouses"??
You guessed it...............one's "domestic partner".
Last I checked no one is trying to have an animal, plant, man-made creation, or otherwise classified as a "class of spouse".
This is yet another attempt to encroach upon the defining lines of traditional marriage by certain lobbies who have so far been defeated by Virginia's native sons and daughters at the polling place.
Senator Hurt again shows, by voting for this bill, what appears to be either a lack of principle or a dereliction of duty to his Oath of Office, by being lax in his research of the consequences of his votes.
One might ask how this vote reflects a violation of his Oath.............let me explain;
Virginia's Constitution now defines marriage as a union between one man and one woman, as does history, tradition, the Bible, and logic and common sense, and the vast majority of Virginians who passed it into law.
Since an elected official takes an oath to uphold the Constitution, how can Senator Hurt vote for a bill that clearly violates the Virginia Constitution by creating a "class of spouses", in direct opposition to the guidelines of the Constitution which defines spouses as a man and a woman?
The Constitution of Virginia leaves no room for the GA to re-define marriage by adding classes of spouse.
According to Virginia's Constitution, there are no classes of spouse, only a man and a woman.
No, Senator, you are on the wrong side of the Constitution again, only this time it is even more important and potentially destructive than your vote for unconstitutional taxation without representation in HB 3202.
All this begs yet another question regarding limited government;
How is it any of the business of government to legislate who is or is not covered by private insurers in a private enterprise?
What will be next?
Sprint will be forced to provide cell phones to those who are likely to refuse to pay their bill?
That's not so far fetched, if one only recalls the genesis of the housing market crash from two years ago;
That began in the seventies under the leadership of the National Hemorrhoid, as Rush calls Carter, and was exacerbated in the nineties under the National Hound-dog, as they FORCED banks to extend home loans to people that had already proven to the free market that they were a high "risk" of refusing to repay the loans.
In an era of Barak Obama, anything is possible, and Republicans should be leading the charge to reduce government to it's constitutionally mandated size and scope, not assisting the Democrats in it's further explosion is size and scope.
Senator Hurt's voting record is a far more accurate indicator of how he would govern as a congressman than is his rhetoric, or the rhetoric or endorsement of any fellow legislators who may care to endorse his record.
If 5th district Republicans had no other choice than Hurt, I could perhaps see taking the pragmatic approach to defeating Tom Perriello;
But we have real conservatives in the race;
Why settle for less in a tremendous opportunity to defeat one of the most vulnerable Democrats in the country?
We need movement conservative leadership to bring us back from the brink of national collapse, not more of the same Republican leadership that assisted the Democrats, or at the very least stood by and watched as liberals destroyed the very freedom that countless thousands have died for over the last 250 years.
"Government is not the solution to our problem.Government is the problem."

I hope you'll continue with the posts. I'm hearing that Hurt will announce his intentions soon and we need conservatives to know what kind of candidates are seeking our support.
Keep up the great work.
